Are you completely overwhelmed managing your child’s eating disorder?

Does this sound like you?

  • You’re burned out and exhausted, struggling to help your child and find the right resources for their care.

  • You’ve noticed significant changes in your child’s weight or noticed they are not eating enough at meals.

  • The’ve started hiding or hoarding food, or refusing to eat around other people.

  • You want to talk to them about it, but they become angry, defensive, or shut down.

  • Your child asked you for help, but you’re at a loss. This wasn’t in any parenting book you ever read.

You know parenting isn’t easy, but this is nothing like what you expected, and you have no idea what to do.

Whether your child is already connected with a treatment team or you are newly navigating and learning about your options, you need support, too. You might need:

  • Someone to give you the tools to help support your child and navigate your family to the new normal.

  • Someone who is knowledgeable about eating disorder treatment and can answer your questions.

  • A neutral party that can act as a listening ear, providing you with your own support without judgment.

  • A therapist to help you confront your own relationship with your body and food.

You don’t have to do this alone.

As a therapist experienced in treating eating disorders, I know that when teens have caregivers who are supportive, treatment is more effective. You deserve to have your own professional who is knowledgeable about eating disorder treatment and can help you manage your own emotions during this process.

My approach comes from a place of respect. I believe parents can both respect and validate their child’s emotions while also drawing firm boundaries and setting clear expectations around eating disorder behaviors. I also believe that no one knows your child better than you and that when you are empowered to support your child in their treatment, the whole family can thrive.

I’ll help you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances.

  • Absolutely! I can offer joint sessions for parents and strongly support all caregivers in a child’s life taking an active hands-on role in their treatment.

  • I practice from a weight neutral framework and align with the Health At Every Size philosophy. I can help you process your concerns around your child’s weight, but will not actively support any member of the family in intentional weight loss.
